As part of AFAL Contigo’s collaboration with neurological research, we would like to propagate, on this website as well, the necessity of researchers to have neurological tissue at their disposal.
The Bank of Tissues for Neurological Research (BTIN – Banco de Tejidos para Investigación Neurologica) of Madrid concentrates its efforts on the extraction, storage, diagnosis and investigation of the samples collected from donors.
When a person dies, even if his or her organs are not suitable for donation to the living, he/she still can do a great service to humanity by donating his/her brain to researchers. Donors of all ages are needed, patients of neurological diseases or any other, and even of those who died in accidents. Neurological investigation covers a great deal of pathologies and any single discovery may benefit the patients of more than one of them.
Many of our members have been so generous as to donate the brain of their relative sufferer when he or she died. The process is very simple: one only has to call the following telephone number when the moment arrives: 608 482 6064. It is always convenient make preparations previously by becoming a donor. The result is imperceptible to the eye. More information can be found in BTIN.
